The VUV yield curve
This recording was done with typical laser powers inside the mercury oven: 310 mW at 257nm, 435 mW at 399 nm, 1.3 W at 545 nm. The red arrow shows the position of Lyman-alpha which is unfortunatly not on a peak (but fortunatly not in a dip...). 1 000 000 photons per second at Lyman-alpha correspond to 6 nW at the photomultiplierer. Concidering all losses on the way down there we produce already about 20 nW Lyman-alpha.
