We have previously used the laser spectroscopy of muonic hydrogen to measure the '''size of the proton'''.
This was the [[http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v466/n7303/full/nature09250.html | Nature title story]] on July 8, 2010. More data and a refined analysis were published in [[http://www.sciencemag.org/content/339/6118/417 | Science]] in Jan. 2013.

As of August 2016, the [[http://www.annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.1146/annurev-nucl-102212-170627 | Proton Radius Puzzle]] is unsolved. Article also available at [[ http://arxiv.org/abs/1301.0905 | arXiv 1301.0905]].
Muonic deuterium will tell us more.
