The OSA Student Chapter Munich
The Optical Society of America (OSA, founded 1916) is a global professional organization that brings together optics and photonics scientists, engineers, educators, technicians and business leaders. OSA is dedicated to providing its members and the scientific community with educational resources that support scientific and professional development. The Society's commitment to excellence and long-term learning is the driving force behind all its initiatives.
As a means to further the Science of Light among students, more than 163 Student Chapters have been created in more than 30 countries worldwide. As the second in continental Europe, we have started our Student Chapter in September 2005 and since then represent an inherent part of the International OSA Network of Students (IONS).
The International OSA Network of Students (IONS) is a grassroots program started in Europe that encourages groups of OSA student chapters to organize events that focus on social and business networking, information sharing and the exchange of ideas. Since its founding in 2006, IONS conferences and networking forums have been held at leading universities and research institutes around the world. We also had the honor to host such a forum at our chapter.
